Grommet Fasteners
Always match your screws to the job, considering both the finished result and the materials being used. Use round heads for work likely to be disassembled, and for fastening thin materials. Use flat heads when the screw head must be flush with the surface, or oval heads when countersinking is possible. If in doubt, use scrap stock to experiment with different types and sizes.
These Specialty Construction Screws have been specially designed for use in heavy construction. These screws have been modified from standard screws or manufactured as an assembly to serve a specific purpose.
Also known as grommet seals, these slotted hex nut machine screws are pre-assembled with a washer and a neoprene grommet with a 'molded-in' nut. Measured by the grommet diameter, they are available in stainless steel 3/8" and aluminum 1/4".
Fab-lok® Construction Screws
For use in original construction, maintenance, and repair of metal-clad buildings, these screws combine the simplicity and strength of both a rivet and a screw. These carbon steel or stainless steel screws are assembled to a slotted 'rivet' sleeve made of 5052-H32 aluminum with a 1/2" OD neoprene sealing washer. The assembly is designed for holding power in high wind areas, severe vibration and racking, and areas of expansion and contraction. Recommended for use on metal-clad buildings whenever these unusual conditions may cause a conventional threaded fastener to loosen and fail. Fab-Lok® is inserted into a 5/16" hole. It comes in 3 lengths depending on desired grip range. See table to choose correct Fab-Lok®.
